Felix Rentschler developed a love of music as a child listening to his parents' favorites: jazz greats Dave Brubeck and Miles Davis, 60s icons the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, and classical masters Beethoven and Mozart. Felix graduated from Berklee College in 1987 and soon after toured the country with his funk and rock bands Shockra and The Heavy Metal Horns with whom he played the Montreal Jazz Fest in 1994 to over 40,000 people, sharing stages with the likes of Little Richard, Al Jarreau, Doctor John, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, G.E. Smith and Maceo Parker.

Felix has over 30 years of experience teaching and performing locally, nationally and internationally. He believes that with great experience comes great patience, and he has mastered a variety of techniques proven over time to help his students overcome any obstacles they might encounter — from proper posture and hand position to music theory and realistic goal setting. Felix currently performs with Felix the Funky Cat Trio and Neal McCarthy. He has put out several CDs with various bands and continues to compose, record and perform.
