Carol joined the OSS team in 2022 as a math teacher for grades 5 and 6. She comes from an interdisciplinary professional journey in clinical mental health counseling, education, and justice advocacy. Alongside the last 25 years of clinical mental health work, Carol has spent the last decade immersed in teaching and educational leadership roles, developing curricula in higher education and secondary schools, and facilitating professional development. Carol’s commitment to equitable and inclusive learning environments that inspire students to be curious lifelong learners are the cornerstone of her teaching philosophy. These values led her to OSS, where the student-centered and academically enriching learning environment provides a strong community foundation for students to learn and grow.

Additionally, Carol is completing her doctoral degree through Lesley University. Her research area seeks to understand better the role of critical consciousness development in community engagement educators. Through the interconnection of this work, Carol continues to explore the meaningful ways educators play an essential role in creating bridges between communities to ensure greater access to academically enriching opportunities. Carol lives in Falmouth with her family, dog, and chickens. In her recreational time, Carol enjoys paddleboarding, hiking, gardening and rock climbing.
